Welcome, I’m Michelle, and I’m passionate about creating art that speaks through its vibrant colours and captivating textures. In my artistic journey, I specialise in painting abstract landscapes and expressive portraits, where every stroke tells a story.

For my landscapes, I frequently use oil and cold wax medium, which allows me to capture the essence of rolling hills, serene valleys, and dramatic skies with depth and richness. This medium adds a tactile quality to my work, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the layers of texture and subtle nuances of colour.

When it comes to my portraits, I explore a diverse range of mixed media techniques, incorporating watercolour, acrylics, and pencils to convey the intricate emotions and personalities of my subjects. Through the delicate interplay of light and shadow, I aim to reveal the inner beauty and complexities of each individual, turning every portrait into a captivating narrative.

In every piece I create, whether it’s the sweeping vistas of a landscape or the intimate details of a portrait, I strive to spark a conversation between the viewer and the artwork, inviting them to explore the depths of colour, texture, and emotion

My Art

The paintings that I create are not just a representation of the physical world and people around me, but also a reflection of my response. I try to evoke emotions in the viewer. I hope to connect with their personal experiences and state of mind. The dreamy and atmospheric quality of my landscapes is achieved through soft blends and textures, using oils and cold wax medium. The raw emotional expressiveness of the portraits is achieved through a range of media including watercolours, acrylics, pastels and pencils. The abstract nature of my art leaves room for interpretation, encouraging the viewer to find their own meaning within the piece.

My artwork has been showcased in several exhibitions. In February 2023 Yr Ty Celf Gallery in Llanelli featured two of my pieces in the Gorwel-Horizon Exhibition, a group showcase of contemporary artworks. Later that year, the Llanwrtyd & District Heritage and Arts Centre included three of my pieces in the Peace Amongst Beauty Open Art Competition, where I was awarded first place for “Distant Summit”. Additionally, in June 2023, the King Street Gallery hosted the Mixing it Up Exhibition, a joint exhibition where my abstract and impressionistic landscapes and florals were on display. I also took part in the Neath Art and Literature Festival in 2023, Queen Street Gallery’s 2023 Winter fayre and Queen Street Gallery’s Open 2024.Two of my works are currently exhibited at the Glynn Vivian Gallery in Swansea in the Swansea Open 2024.
